Overview
zetalta is designed with privacy as a priority, especially because many of our users are under 13. We collect only what we need to run the platform, we never sell your data, and we give you full control over your information.
1. What we collect
When you register:
- Username and display name
- Email address
- Birth year and month (to calculate age — we do not store your exact birthday)
- Country (optional)
- Password (stored as a secure hash — we never see your actual password)
When you use zetalta:
- Posts, ideas, and messages you create
- Connections you make with other builders
- Grant applications you submit
- XP, badges, and activity history
- Profile information you add (bio, domain, avatar color)
Automatically collected:
- Log data (pages visited, features used, timestamps)
- Device type and browser (for technical compatibility)
- IP address (for security and fraud prevention — not stored permanently)
2. What we do NOT collect
- Your exact date of birth (only year and month)
- Your real full name (only your chosen username)
- Your home address or phone number
- Payment information (managed by Stripe — we never see your card number)
- Location data beyond your chosen country
- Social media profiles or external account data
3. How we use your data
- To operate your account and show your content in the platform
- To send parental consent emails (for users under 13)
- To calculate your XP, Canvas Score, and leaderboard ranking
- To power Zeta AI suggestions (your ideas and bio help Zeta give better advice)
- To review grant applications
- To send important platform notifications and emails
- To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and safety violations
- To improve zetalta's features (using aggregated, anonymized data)
4. Who can see your data
Public (anyone can see):
- Your username, handle, bio, domain, and avatar
- Your posts and ideas (unless set to private)
- Your badges, XP level, and Canvas Score
- Your public connections list
Private (only you and zetalta admins):
- Your email address
- Your birth year and month
- Your parent's email (for under-13 accounts)
- Your grant application details
- Your Zeta AI chat history
We never sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Third-party services we use
- Anthropic (Claude AI): Powers Zeta AI responses. Messages sent to Zeta may be processed by Anthropic. We do not send your personal profile data to Anthropic.
- Google Firebase: Sends push notifications to mobile devices.
- Cloudflare: Protects our website from attacks and provides CDN services.
- Stripe: Processes payments for parent-approved tool subscriptions. Stripe handles payment data; we never see your card numbers.
- Google Cloud Storage: Stores media files (images, videos) you upload.
6. Data retention
- Account data is kept as long as your account is active.
- When you delete your account, your personal information is anonymized within 30 days.
- Some records may be kept for up to 7 years for legal compliance purposes.
- Uploaded media files are deleted within 90 days of account deletion.
7. Your rights
You (and parents of under-13 users) have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Correct: Fix inaccurate information in your profile
- Delete: Request deletion of your account and data
- Export: Download your data in JSON format from your account settings
- Object: Opt out of non-essential data processing
To exercise these rights, email privacy@zetalta.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security practices: encrypted passwords (bcrypt), HTTPS everywhere, access tokens with short expiry, and secure secret management. We regularly test our security. If we discover a data breach affecting your account, we will notify you by email within 72 hours.
9. Cookies
We use only essential cookies — specifically a secure, httpOnly cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Our analytics tool (Umami) is privacy-first and does not use cookies or track individual users across sessions.
